History

PennApps 2010

Penn Apps 2010 was a 48-hour hackathon held in September 2010. The goal of the competition was to create a web or mobile application that would improve the student experience. SEASPrint, an Android application that allows students to print documents, images, and texts to the Engineering School's printers directly from their phones, won first prize; SEPTANow, a map that shows where Septa's Regional Rails trains are at any given point, won the Student Choice Award.

PennApps 2009

Penn Apps 2009 started as a three week competition held in 2009. The aim of the competition was to create a web application as an easy way to learn PHP and get started with web development. Cobol on Rails was the winning submission, which gave Penn students a user-friendly alternative to Penn Course Review for selecting and comparing courses and professors.
